María Isabel Ríos Puras joined the firm as an associate attorney in 2026 and is a member of its Litigation Department. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Ríos Puras gained extensive legal experience across a range of practice settings. She served as an intern in private practice before transitioning to the public sector as an intern at the United States Federal Public Defender’s Office for the District of Puerto Rico, where she attended federal criminal law and constitutional issues. Upon admission to the bar, Ms. Ríos Puras practiced independently in criminal proceedings prior to joining the firm.
Beyond the courtroom, Ms. Ríos Puras contributed to the academic legal community as a Research Assistant to Professor Ernesto L. Chiesa Aponte at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law, and as Chief of Public Relations for the University of Puerto Rico Law Review. She has also been published in the Law School’s journal IN REV, where her article Desentrañando la imagen de la mujer histérica desde la impericia médica: Un análisis a través de la literatura was featured in February 2025.
